EEF Project Partner

We would like to share this certificate of appreciation that we have received this week from our EEF Project Partner. This was awarded in recognition of the achievement of 24 Year 9 students who were part of the week-long ‘Operation Blackout’ project ran by Commando Joe’s and Mr Powley.

The Commando Joe’s project combined challenging physical activity with the use of metacognitive skills and instructor-facilitated reflection sessions which aimed to improve non-cognitive outcomes and attainment. Students developed various focused skills/qualities over the week: communication skills; leadership skills; the ability to work with others; and the ability to develop themselves as a person and character. The lasting benefits of this project aim to improve behaviour and attitudes to learning, improve attendance and punctuality as well as embedding character education and British values for all students involved.

Please see some of the images attached which showcase some of the challenges students faced during the week as well as the programme overview for a little more context to each mission.

We would also like to take this opportunity to say how fantastic each student was in terms of attitude and application. Just remember the Commando Joe’s motto and carry that attitude with you - “No team member left behind”
