Sixth Formers Continue to Shine

Sixth Formers from North Durham Academy have once again achieved an impressive set of results which are allowing them to move on to a wide range of future destinations. Their success is due to a huge amount of hard work and dedication by the students themselves in addition to the support provided by teachers, parents and the entire school community.

We are incredibly proud of our Year 13 students who have once again improved our results at A Level with a 100% pass rate. We are delighted that the majority of our academic students have, on average, achieved above their expected target grades. Level 3 vocational students have also maintained the Academy’s impressive level of performance with 95% of BTEC grades being gained at Merit and above. This achievement is one the Academy is keen to celebrate as all BTEC courses now contain challenging examination units which our students have clearly been well prepared for, and taken in their stride.

These results demonstrate yet another year of improvements at North Durham Academy and we are incredibly proud of everyone who is contributing to our continuing success. Once again, these results have allowed students to progress to a range of prestigious and competitive university destinations as well as apprenticeships and employment.

Among the students celebrating today are:

Alyshia Conroy who has been successful in securing a place at the highly competitive Durham University to study History. She has achieved an A* in A Level History, A in A Level English Language, Distinction* in BTEC Science and a B in her Extended Project.

Sophie Ross has been accepted to study Nursing at the prestigious York University after gaining double distinctions in BTEC Health and Social Care and Merit in BETC ICT.

Jessica Adamson has secured an apprenticeship in the travel industry after achieving double Distinction in BTEC Health and Social Care and Distinction in BTEC ICT.

Mrs Angela Sweeten, Principal of North Durham Academy commented,

“These results reflect the effort our students have put into both their studies and wider personal development and we are delighted they can now enjoy the benefits of their hard work. We are confident that our sixth formers are well prepared for the future. This success is also a tribute to the support and guidance provided not only by our dedicated staff and governors, but also through the support provided by parents. Thank you to everyone who has made today such a success for the young people of Stanley. We wish them every success in the next exciting stage of their careers.”
