Holocaust Memorial Day

Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (HMDT) is the charity that promotes and supports Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD). HMD has taken place in the UK since 2001, with a UK event and over 7,700 local activities taking place on or around 27th January each year. The date was chosen as this was when Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated in 1945.

All week, two Year 13 students, Zack Sheridan and Jack Charlton, will lead assemblies in the theatre. These two young men are Youth Ambassadors for the Holocaust Education trust and will be presenting a report on their own visit to Auschwitz.

The assemblies will also feature brilliant poems, written by some of our students on this year’s theme. These form an integral part of the HMD display in the LRC, as well as the postcards students have written as part of the HMDT’s Postcard Project.

The poems have been sent to HRH Prince Charles, who is the Patron of the Trust.

Powerful Words by our students.
