Year 9 Go4SET Project

For 10 weeks during the summer term, year 9 students have been working hard on the Go4SET project. The project at North Durham Academy collaborated with Northumbria University and the Engineering Development Trust. The students have been working on a project called ‘The Eco Hotel’, concentrating on the worldwide issue of increasing our sustainability. Working mainly during their own time, students have produced a scale model of their hotel, as well as a report and speech to be presented to industry experts. IMG_3011
Throughout the project, the students have worked hard on developing their STEM-related skills. They have also received a Crest Silver award for their efforts; an industry-recognised qualification within STEM. As the STEM industry within the UK brings in approximately £500 billion to our annual economy, we believe that working on STEM projects such as this will help to provide our students with an invaluable step-up into potential future careers.
