North Durham Academy wins prestigious RICS Award

On Friday 15 April North Durham Academy were announced winners of the Community Benefit Award at the North East Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors Awards evening, that took place at the Civic Centre in Newcastle.

North Durham Academy will now go forward into the National Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors Awards which take place in October in London.

The judges were impressed by the community initiatives and activities that now take place at the Academy on and evening and weekend and the community ethos that is central to the academy. 

Mr Thornton commented “We are very proud to have won such a prestigious award that affirms our commitment to making North Durham Academy a community hub.  We are delighted that the judges recognised the positive impact the building and its facilities are making to local people. We have a packed community programme which operates 7 days a week for 50 weeks of the year. From sports teams to theatre groups and across all ages our community programmes reach thousands of people. Best of all, our students enjoy our wonderful facilities every day as part of their curriculum, helping them to make outstanding progress and to enjoy their studies.’’
