Students present Help 4 Heroes with a cheque for £8000!

Our students presented representatives from Help 4 Heroes with a cheque for £8000 on Thursday 17 September.

Students chose the Help 4 Heroes as their charity last academic year and went all out to raise as much money as they could for. Every event that was staged throughout the year, included some form of fundraising, whether it was cake sale, ticket sale donations or raffles.

In July, two teachers, Mrs Pallas-Gill and Miss Gray completed a sky dive for Help 4 Heroes.

In March students came to school dressed as a hero in exchange for a £1 for Help 4 Heroes and Mr Murray bravely had his legs waxed in front of all the students one lunchtime in aid of Help 4 Heroes.

Students held a ‘How Far Will You Go for Help 4 Heroes?’ in May.  The idea of the event was for students to receive sponsorship to run, walk, cycle or swim as many kilometres as possible. Staff were amazed by the student’s absolute determination and effort.

David Thornton, Principal said “I am so proud of how our students have embraced there chosen charity and the amount that they have raised. For North Durham Academy to raise such a huge amount of money makes me incredibly proud.”
